Staff were very rude, didn’t clear the table a couple of hours after eating. For the price you don’t get a lot, and the quality wasn’t amazing. And on paying they made us pay the wrong price.

Incredibly dissapointed, especially as loyal and returning guests. My wife, and I stayed for one evening on Saturday 18th January 2025, and booked the most premium suite available, for a birthday occassion. This our 3rd, and unfortunately final visit. Facility: The standards have fallen well below expectation since our previous visits and stay, this our third visit. We have been advocates of the Vicarage and recommended so many people. The current staff are a little too casual, and lack professionalism. The men's and women's toilets were dirty with paper tissues all over the floor. The red carpet that's been stuck down to the floor where the beautiful feature of the cellar used to exist is a trip hazard, and looks scruffy. This situated right near the entrance to the toilets and my wife tripped, and stumbled over this. Very dangerous. Attended our reservations at 7pm in the restaurant: To be informed there were no pies, no steaks, no battered fish and chips, no butternut squash. We decided we'd just get some light bites for room service. Telephoned down and ordered some flat breads, to be told they no longer have any. We got some other bites, steak ciabatta, onion rings, fries and the tenderstem brocoli. The brocoli tasted of propane gas and was disgusting, inedible. Tea and coffee making facilities - Delux suite: We were provide no tea spoons, and just 2 small sachets of sugar with our jars of tea bags and coffee. Considering we booked the most premium suite available. Underwhelming is an under statement. The lack of ongoing upkeep and maintenance is clear and obvious, chips and stains all over the walls in our suite. Flaking wall paper. I appreciate it's an aged building with character, however there is no excuse for a lack of standards. The central heating wasn't working so we needed a small electrical PTC heater in the room. As we are loyal customers, and this our third visit. A special birthday occassion which makes this all the more dissapointing. We also sat in the bar area, all evening and witnessed the bar and restaurant team turning couples away, that walked in asking for a table. Informing them if they didn't have a reservation, they couldn't be seated. The bar and restaurant was almost empty. I would seriously avoid booking here if you're looking for a break away, until the standards drastically improve! I reached out to the Vicarage by the only means available, an online enquiry form, last Monday 20th January, highlighting all of the above. They have chosen to ignore me.

I like this place, everything here is good, the room is good, the service is good, the food is delicious, but the WiFi is not good, the TV is always lost, we have to tune the TV all the time. We have to follow the staff to set up the TV for us all the time, which is not good, boring. For 5night

£30 for a Christmas pudding isn't great value. I ordered the two course Christmas meal and had beef for the main course. Who does beef with no yorkshire? Yes the Vicarage. The food was cold. I had one bite of the beef, two of the mash which seemed to be reconstituted mash and a small taste of the cold broccoli. By the time Christmas pudding came I was too hungry to care. Again cold custard and a luke warm pudding. They seemed rather busy so I think they stretched the kitchen and serving staff. Last year was such a delicious meal and a shane they can't maintain the high standards they had previously. Definitely not recommended.

Parked in hotel car park, plenty of space.went there for a meal service was very good and fast. Staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was served hot and fast. The portions were very good. Its prices were competitive. Entrance for all people. Its very dog friendly. Well worth a visit and we will be going back. I don't know anything re it's hotel part.

We had a one night stay, a perfect stop, just off the M6. The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially Paul. The bed was super comfy, the room beautifully decorated and the shower and toiletries a delight (and vegan friendly). Breakfast was huge and cooked to perfection (again, vegan options available). Our dog loved the nature reserve across the road, especially after a long drive. We will be back 100%.

We had a wedding nearby so needed a place to stay and came across this place. The service and staff have been so friendly, helpful and down to earth. The room we got was spacious and clean. It had an iron and ironing board that we requested already in the room, great touch. It had a rv, tea and coffee selection with a kettle and a complimenatry sparkling water. The bed was great, really comfortable with thick sheets and pillows. Despite being on the ground floor the windows kept the outside noise out. The bathroom had a shower and bath combo, where the shower head was super powerful! Nice complimentary toiletries too. We had dinner and breakfast there, both times were lovely. The food and service was exceptional. The atmosphere in the restaurant was chilled and relaxing. The few negatives that we had were the toilet lid and seat didn’t stay up, so made it a bit of challenege to pee standing up. There wasn’t much shelf space for the toiletries, so had to workaround that. There is no air conditioning, which would have been nice as the room gets a vit hot now and again. But these are small negatives and can't fault the amazing service and place that this place is.

I regrettably stayed here for one night recently. The room was awful and I was disturbed with noise all night. I did report it to the management at breakfast but they just fobbed me off. I did hear something strange off an another guest. They said they were asked to write a positive review after having a few drinks in the bar. I guess that’s how they have so many good reviews.

Lovely country pub, restaurant and hotel situated just off the A50 in Cheshire (just North of Holmes Chapel). The Manager had a warm welcome and the open fire was beautiful. Spacious bar area, great for family groups and socialising.

If am you are disabled do not visit this for a drink or a meal. There are no disabled toilet facilities whatsoever. It is bad enough to have to cope with mobility problems without it being demeaning and humiliating to have to ask for help if you need to use the loo

I stayed here a week or so ago with my Wife, we found the room (Signature double) to be clean and tidy although a little dated and could do with a bit of a re fresh. The food was absolutely lovely, we didn't have a bad meal over the three nights we spent here. (Evening meal and breakfast) The staff were also polite and friendly. Plenty of parking and well situated for our needs.

We recently stayed at the Vicarage Cheshire for our anniversary, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our celebration extra special. Their attention to detail was impeccable, and every little touch made us feel truly cared for. The staff were so friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure we had a memorable stay. The room itself was lovely, full of charm and character, which added to the overall warmth of the experience. And the food—just wow! Every meal was delicious, and the dining experience was nothing short of amazing. Overall, The Vicarage Cheshire exceeded all our expectations, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special getaway!

I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend and booked an “Executive Suite” for two nights, but our experience was nothing short of disappointing. In the evening, we discovered our room was directly above the wedding dance floor, and the noise level was unbearable at 11.45pm. I had messaged the hotel to confirm our reservation 3 days prior to arrival and not once were we informed that our room was above a dance floor or that a wedding would disturb us in the room provided. It would make more sense to put guests from a wedding above the dance floor rather than any other guests. Had they pre-warned there was little chance of sleep I would never have paid such extortionate prices for the stay and would have better spent the money elsewhere. Despite the fact that we had driven 4.5 hours to attend a wedding the following morning, the music and guests’ loud singing made it impossible to sleep; it felt like we were in the middle of the party. When my partner called the reception to address the noise, the lady at the desk simply said, “there’s nothing we could do about it,” without any apology or attempt to resolve the issue. We requested compensation for the night we couldn’t sleep, but to our dismay, we never received a response from the hotel management. The lack of communication and consideration was shocking. I had even contacted the hotel prior to our stay to confirm our room details, and at no point was I informed that there would be an event that would make our room unusable. We paid for an upgrade, expecting comfort and quiet, but received the opposite. Overall, this experience was frustrating and disappointing, and the hotel failed to meet even basic standards of hospitality and customer service. I would not recommend staying here, especially if you value a good night’s sleep and responsive service.

Room was clean and had tea and coffee but was small a very basic. Wasn’t able to use restaurant or bar as there was a wedding on which was inconvenient. I was told the restaurant had been booked out but not that it was a wedding which made it difficult to park when we returned later after eating out. It was also noisy as people started to go to bed after the party.

This is one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Imagine a very old rundown premier inn that is under staffed!! There is never anyone on reception and they don’t even bother to explain the breakfast options. We didn’t even bother going for breakfast. This in my mind made it an even more expensive stay after a noisy awful nights sleep. The only positive reviews on here are from Dog owners. They are so happy they are allowed to bring them into the place they don’t care about anything else.

We had a 2 night stay here and we loved it! We arrived on the first night and we ate in the restaurant and we had two of the most amazing gammon steaks we've ever had. The food was beautiful and delicious. The restaurant decor and the hotel decor is exactly like you see on their images. I've seen some people review that it's not and I'm not sure what they're on about, as to me it all looked like the photos. We stayed in a four post king bedroom and it was perfect for our needs and we also had our little dog with us. The only tiny thing I'd say is that one of the towel rails was slightly loose and that's me being really picky the room was fantastic! We had breakfast there and it was delicious again. They have a continental selection bar and you order hot food which is freshly made. See pics. This is a dog friendly place. They were absolutely no dramas about having my dog theyere and all the staff and all the areas are welcome of him. But we do have a very quiet well behaved dog 😄. I recommend this place and we will be back!

Please do not listen to the positive reviews and the rooms are nothing like the glossy photos. I’ve just had a really bad experience here. Me and my wife were kept awake all night with the noise. We also found the room very unhygienic with dog hairs on the carpet. The hotel is very tired and worn out.
